摘要

This study examined the effects of the global financial crisis (GFC) on South Korea’s regional labor markets before and after the GFC. We developed a regional employment growth model to analyze regional employment growth element changes before and after the GFC using a quantile regression. Results show that industrial diversity is a crucial element for South Korea’s regional economy; the GFC differentially influenced various employment types; and regional employment growth effects varied according to regional employment growth rates, which can aggravate economic imbalances between regions. These findings have important implications for developing regional strategies to better manage external impacts.
