Introduction <p>For many years the journal <i>Arthroskopie</i> has documented important developments in arthroscopic and joint surgery. The aim of this analysis was to provide an overview of the journal’s main thematic focuses since 1998.</p> Methodology <p>A&#xa0;total of 132 issues of <i>Arthroskopie</i> from 1998–2026 were analyzed. The included articles were categorized by joint region. Additionally, a&#xa0;frequency-based keyword visualization of the main topics was performed.</p> Results <p>Of the 1532 articles reviewed from 132 issues, 1055 articles were included in the final analysis. The knee joint was the most common topic with 569 articles, followed by the shoulder with 260 articles, the ankle with 92&#xa0;articles, the hips with 66&#xa0;articles, the elbow with 60&#xa0;articles and the wrist with 8&#xa0;articles. In the keyword visualization, terms such as cruciate ligament, rotator cuff, shoulder instability and meniscus were the most frequently represented.</p> Conclusion <p>The analysis shows that topics related to the knee accounted for the largest proportion of articles throughout the entire study period. At the same time, a&#xa0;broadening of the journal’s range of topics is evident, particularly due to the significant proportion of studies on the shoulder as well as recurring articles on the ankle, hips and elbow. The visualization of keywords complements this joint-related analysis and illustrates that in addition to anatomical regions, specific pathologies, surgical concepts, diagnostic developments and structural topics have shaped the journal’s main topics. Overall, the analysis provides a&#xa0;concise overview of the most important focal points and developments in arthroscopy since 1998.</p>

Introduction

For many years the journal Arthroskopie has documented important developments in arthroscopic and joint surgery. The aim of this analysis was to provide an overview of the journal’s main thematic focuses since 1998.

Methodology

A total of 132 issues of Arthroskopie from 1998–2026 were analyzed. The included articles were categorized by joint region. Additionally, a frequency-based keyword visualization of the main topics was performed.

Results

Of the 1532 articles reviewed from 132 issues, 1055 articles were included in the final analysis. The knee joint was the most common topic with 569 articles, followed by the shoulder with 260 articles, the ankle with 92 articles, the hips with 66 articles, the elbow with 60 articles and the wrist with 8 articles.
