Diagnostik und konservative Therapie der Gonarthrose
摘要
Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is the most frequent degenerative joint disease and is characterized by progressive cartilage loss and other structural changes of the knee joint, which over time lead to increasing pain, movement limitations and reduced quality of life. The diagnosis is primarily made clinically and, when needed, supplemented by targeted imaging. From a differential diagnostic perspective, other intra-articular and extra-articular causes must be distinguished.
In line with national and international guidelines, a multimodal conservative first-line treatment is the gold standard. Core components include structured exercise therapy, patient education with promotion of self-management as well as nutrition and weight management. A structured clinical examination forms the basis for an individualized evidence-based treatment plan. Treatment planning and management are guided by shared goal setting, monitoring using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and regular re-evaluation.
The goals are symptom relief, preservation of joint function, improvement of the quality of life and maintenance of activities of daily living.
