摘要

Coxarthrosis is the second most frequent degenerative joint disease after gonarthrosis and leads to progressive pain and restricted mobility due to cartilage loss and other structural changes of the hip joint. The diagnosis is primarily made clinically complemented by imaging procedures. The differential diagnosis should consider both intra-articular and, in particular, extra-articular causes. According to national and international guidelines, conservative treatment represents the gold standard for initial treatment and is based on a multimodal approach. Core components include structured exercise therapy, patient education, weight reduction if indicated and temporary pharmacological pain management as needed. The goals are to alleviate symptoms, preserve joint function and improvement in the quality of life. A structured clinical examination forms the basis for individualized, evidence-based treatment planning.
