Background <p>The increasing importance and interest in tibial torsion can be seen in the number of publications listed in PubMed. In 2019 there were 57&#xa0;publications and from 2020 onwards there were over 80&#xa0;publications per year.</p> Objective <p>Review of the causes and treatment as well as postoperative treatment and outcome of tibial torsional deformities.</p> Material and methods <p>Evaluation of studies on tibial torsional deformity and surgical correction. Description of the diagnostics and surgical treatment with follow-up treatment and risks.</p> Results <p>The cause of tibial torsional deformity has not yet been finally clarified. Conservative treatment often has little success in cases of structural problems. In symptomatic (pain or patellar dislocation) cases of increased tibial external torsional deformity, torsional correction osteotomy of the proximal tibia has shown very good results in various studies.</p> Conclusion <p>Depending on the symptoms, torsional correction osteotomy should be discussed in detail with the patient, also about the possible risks and follow-up treatment. An isolated radiologically confirmed torsional deformity alone is not an indication for torsion correction and needs to be confirmed by the clinical examination and symptoms.</p>
