摘要

Approximately one third of patients experience persistent or recurrent pain and/or dissatisfaction with the result following knee replacement surgery. The symptoms are clinically highly complex and vary strongly from patient to patient. A well-founded diagnostic clarification requires the expertise of an orthopedic specialist in revision knee arthroplasty. An improvement in the complaints is only possible if the underlying causes of the symptoms are clearly identified, regardless of whether conservative or surgical treatment is pursued. The aim of this article is to introduce the Bruderholz algorithm for the systematic clarification of patients with pain and restricted mobility following knee replacement surgery. The protocol encompasses structured diagnostics, analysis of the underlying causes and potential conservative or surgical treatment options to ensure a targeted and effective treatment.
