摘要

Bowel endometriosis is present in about 10% of patients with endometriosis, with affection of the rectum being most common. While the diagnosis is established clinically, vaginal sonography has proven to be the first-choice imaging modality. Suitable progestins (dienogest) or oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonists with osteoprotective add-back—if the diagnosis has been corroborated by laparoscopy—should be the primary treatment. Surgical therapy comprises removal of the affected bowel portion by shaving, disc excision, or segmental resection.
