<p>Ultrasonography requires comprehensive practical and theoretical skills due to the strong dependence on the examiner. Therefore, high-quality training programs are essential. Increasing requirements for training programs combined with short training times have led to increasing deficits in ultrasonography training, despite the fact that technical advances and new applications require continuous training. The goal of this article is to provide trainers an overview of ultrasound didactics in gynecology and obstetrics taking into consideration national and international standards (in particular DEGUM [Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ultraschall in der Medizin] and ISUOG [International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology]). Based on current studies and recommendations, the development of a guideline-compliant curriculum, training methods, the use of simulators, strategies for feedback, examination and evaluation formats, and the effective integration of ultrasonography training into clinical continuing education concepts are discussed.</p>
