<p>This overview article presents the current state of the indications and implementation of the various types of hormonal ovarian stimulation utilized in reproductive medicine for fertility purposes. The article is divided into four parts: First, the indications for ovarian stimulation treatment are summarized. Then, prognostic and predictive parameters for the success of hormonal stimulation therapy are listed, which should make it possible to anticipate a&#xa0;too low response (so-called low response) or a&#xa0;too strong response of the ovaries (high response). Then, the forms of ovarian stimulation are presented with the available stimulation drugs and protocols. Finally, the actual guidelines of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) are presented. The article concludes with a&#xa0;brief summary for reproductive medicine practice. This article provides a&#xa0;compact overview of the topic and offers practical reproductive medicine specialists support in their everyday clinical work.</p>
