<p>This article is focused on rational, evidence-based management of infection/colonization with chlamydia, gonococci, and mycoplasma, in order to optimize diagnosis, treatment, and costs, while at the same time enhancing personalized care. Not all management and treatment strategies established in routine clinical practice are based on strong evidence, even if they are in accordance with current guidelines. Several studies have large deficits, rendering interpretation cumbersome. In order to improve patient care, it is essential to consider the relevant level of evidence in order to practice individualized medicine in combination with responsible risk management.</p>
