摘要

In a recent study to evaluate the presence of more than one hundred Emerging Substances of Concern (ESoCs) in drinking water and treated municipal wastewater, we detected several pharmaceuticals that have not been reported as widely in the literature as other pharmaceuticals. The objective of the present technical note was to highlight the present of some compounds to stimulate interest for including them more systematically in monitoring programs and research. These six ESoCs that were detected in treated wastewater at concentrations > 100 ng/L and in some cases, also detected in drinking water include two antimicrobials (clarithromycin, azithromycin), two anti-convulsants (lamotrigine, topiramate) and two medications used to treat high blood pressure (hydrochlorothiazide, irbesartan).
