摘要

Physical activity in childhood and adolescence is essential for physical, motor, cognitive and psychosocial development; however, increasing training intensity, sports specialization and competition frequency increase the risk of injury patterns that fundamentally differ from those observed in adults. Particularly vulnerable are open growth plates, apophyseal structures, immature cartilage and menisci. This review provides a detailed account of the epidemiology, diagnostics, treatment and sport-specific recommendations for commonly occurring injuries, such as avulsion fractures, juvenile osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD), anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture, growth plate injuries, growing pains and congenital structural deviations (scoliosis, hip dysplasia, discoid meniscus). Furthermore, preventive strategies to support long-term joint health and safe sports participation are also discussed. The objective is to supply pediatricians, sports physicians, physiotherapists and coaches with an evidence-based foundation for managing young athletes.
