Biomarkers of myocardial contusion: no one should stand alone
摘要
In some situations, traumatic myocardial contusion can be a serious event. However, its initial diagnosis is difficult and clinically often overlooked. Therefore, researchers primarily focus on biomarkers and other laboratory tools to detect it early. However, the discriminatory power of the currently available biochemical markers remains low. Plenty of these biomarkers are not clinically applicable yet. On the other hand, high-sensitive troponins are the most important bedside tool in this regard. Still, if any of the other laboratory tools become positive, they must be linked to a high index of suspicion, serial electrocardiographic monitoring, and point-of-care echocardiographic scanning. This will ensure safe patient discharge from the emergency department.
