Background <p>Postoperative complications represent a&#xa0;major prognostic factor in colorectal cancer and are associated with increased morbidity, mortality and poorer oncological outcomes. Perioperative medicine aims to reduce postoperative complications through structured treatment concepts and to improve the conditions for effective oncological treatment.</p> Objective <p>To analyze the impact of perioperative medical strategies on postoperative morbidity, mortality and oncological outcomes in colorectal cancer.</p> Material and methods <p>Narrative review based on a&#xa0;literature search conducted in PubMed and the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany (AWMF) guideline databases. Randomized studies, meta-analyses, prospective cohort studies and current guideline recommendations were included without formal selection criteria.</p> Results <p>Postoperative complications are associated with increased mortality and reduced overall survival. Evidence-based perioperative strategies have been shown to significantly reduce complication rates and enable earlier initiation of adjuvant therapy. This results in improved short-term clinical outcomes and enhanced long-term oncological prognosis.</p>

Background

Objective
