<p>In recent years, a&#xa0;paradigm shift has taken place in the assessment of treatment success in colorectal cancer. The success of a&#xa0;treatment can no longer be determined solely based on objective results. Values such as freedom from pain and social participation in life are becoming increasingly more important and are recorded using patient-reported outcomes (PROs). The instruments used to measure PROs are called patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), which are usually collected in the form of questionnaires. Numerous PROMs are available, which can be divided into generic, disease-specific, and symptom-specific. In colorectal cancer, oncological treatment success is often accompanied by considerable functional limitations. This is precisely where the use of PROs is of great importance both in the early and late stages of the disease.</p>
