Sigma- und Zökumvolvulus
摘要
A volvulus in the region of the colon is a rare but serious cause of acute intestinal obstruction and requires a rapid diagnosis and treatment. A sigmoid volvulus occurs more frequently than a cecal volvulus. The diagnosis is usually made by techniques such as X‑ray imaging or computed tomography (CT) scans. In patients without signs of peritonitis or ischemia, a sigmoid volvulus should initially be treated endoscopically before definitive surgical treatment is performed. In contrast, a cecal volvulus usually requires an immediate surgical intervention as endoscopic decompression is not recommended.
