摘要

This study decodes the cultural logic in disappearing traditional Chinese courtyard dwellings through a computational framework that integrates space syntax with culturally-informed feature engineering and unsupervised learning. Analysing 194 courtyard dwellings from Zhejiang and Sichuan, we engineer higher-order features such as the Gini coefficient for spatial inequality to reveal four spatial-configurational genotypes. The results show that, while isolated metrics show no regional difference, genotype distributions diverge significantly. Sichuan concentrates on a pragmatic, balanced type, reflecting adaptive culture, while Zhejiang displays a diverse spectrum, demonstrating its Confucian framework’s capacity to accommodate both hierarchy and decentralized life. These findings demonstrate that regional identity is encoded in the systematic selection and prioritization of configurational logic, thereby advancing a data-driven paradigm for research in cultural computing and heritage conservation.
